In this photo update, we share our initial impressions from getting a chance to experience Rapterra at Kings Dominion. Rapterra is a launched wing coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland. The roller coaster was constructed in the Jungle X-Pedition section of the park on the former site of Volcano the Blast Coaster. The coaster operates two trains which get launched to 65 miles an hour. The tallest point of the ride is 145 feet in the air and over the course of 3,086 feet of track riders experience 3 inversions. The coaster is fast and features many low to the ground moments enhancing the sense of speed.

There is ride specific audio in the queue to provide some backstory. Think Mystic Timbers at Kings Island if you've experienced that before.

Ahead of the station the queue splits and you can choose the left or right side of the train. The left side of the train requires you to traverse under the station.

The attraction features a covered transfer track. This was media day so only one train was run as it was rigged up with camera equipment. On most days we should see two train operation.

The train itself features no on-board lighting, but is themed to the namesake bird.

The ride starts with a 65 mile an hour launch that you slow roll into. The train does not come to a full stop before.
The arches are painted with various designs.
