Scorpion's Last Day

Busch Gardens Tampa Closing Photos Taken: 09/08/2024 Posted: 09/09/2024

In this photo update, we visit Busch Gardens Tampa on the last operating day of Scorpion, the park's Schwarzkopf roller coaster. Scorpion opened in 1980 and featured the Silverarrow layout. The park was located in the Pantopia section of the park. On its last day, there was were no signs, media or special attention paid to this classic attraction. It operated with its lone remaining train. Scorpion featured a 60 foot lift, reached 40 miles per hour and featured a single inversion consisting of a vertical loop that you later got to travel through. We're sure the park must have exciting plans for this area in the future, but for the moment it is sad to this classic coaster go.
