The food and frights during HalloWeekends

Cedar Point Preview Photos Taken: 09/23/2022 Posted: 09/24/2022

The annual HalloWeekends event at Cedar Point is quite the undertaking for the park. The midways get dressed up for the season. New attractions and shows emerge in the form of scare zones, haunted mazes, spooky and silly shows as well as much more family entertainment for all ages than you may have come to expect.

HalloWeekends distinguishes itself from other halloween events in that it truly tries to cater to all visitors. The park does not close and reopen. If you want to be scared, you can go to the scary areas. If you want to just ride rides or participate in family activities such as trick or treating, a variety of mazes or crafts, you can do that as well.

Cedar Point invited us to visit the park for a special preview of what the special offerings are for this year. It all starts with a new MC for the event: Mr. Midnight. This character invoking all things scary and dark distinguishes himself through his Freddy Krueger-esque knives for gloves. Mr. Midnight's likeness can be found throughout the park on signs, shirts and other merchandise. Where you can be sure to find him is during the Opening Scarymonies show at Celebration Plaza as well as during a showing of The Midnight Hour with Midnight Syndicate in the Jack Aldrich Theatre.

We got a special 'spooky lights on' tour of the recently rethemed Haunting at Eerie Estate maze and while inside got to meet with members of Cedar Point's culinary staff including Executive Chef RJ Sinwald to get the inside scoop (and some samples) of some of the most popular offerings of the Flavors of HalloWeekends food event. This year instead of offering a special themed group meal, Cedar Point wants its guests to visit the park's many different recently upgraded dining facilities to try out some sometimes spooky and certainly seasonal offerings inspired by the Autumn season.

Follow along as we take you step by step through our second visit to HalloWeekends this year. The weather is turning cooler and more comfortable here in Ohio and there is no better time to make your first (or return) visit to Cedar Point. You will need more than one day to experience all there is to offer!

Thanks again to Cedar Point and all those involved for hosting us.
