Good morning from Cedar Point!
Cedar Point hosted a launch event for their reimagined Top Thrill 2 roller coaster. This project, taken on by ride manufacturer Zamperla, was more than just a mere conversion of a coaster from hydraulic to LSM launch. In was the construction of a second 420 foot tower and the inclusion of a swing launch highlighted by a backwards launch at 101 mph and a forwards launch at 120 mph. There truly is no experience on earth quite like this.
Top Thrill 2 is the centerpiece of a refurbishment of the midway on which it sits. This attraction is yet another reason for guests to seek out Cedar Point as a destination amusement park and a reaffirmation that it still is the Roller Coaster Capital of the World. This new coaster surpassed my expectations and its three launches extend the duration of its predecessor, thereby enhancing the ride. Yes, the tower lights are back! We discovered several nods to the ride's "Top Thrill" legacy.

On the midway, the area around Top Thrill 2 is now well marked with new ride signage and painted pavement.
